About Us
An Ode to Trying, Relentlessly.
Hi, we're Melody and Emily, sisters, illustrators, ceramicists, dog lovers, and lover of cute things. Welcome to our digital home!
Our Story

We started Try Studio when we were studying together in a graphic design program as a passion, but it quickly grew bigger than we could have ever imagined, and we started working full time once we graduated.
In just a year, we have grown from working in a community studio to having our home studio; from having 1 entry shelf on Robson Street, to now, having 7 shelves across Canada. We are constantly looking to improve and bring our products to more parts of the country and the world.
You Never Fail Unless You Stop Trying

When we were young, our art teacher asked us to challenge ourselves not to use an eraser when drawing. She said, try transforming your "mistake" into something else, something intentional.
And that really stuck with us. Making art, to us, is a process of constantly finding ways to express ourselves, it reflects what we're going through in the moment, and it grows with us. There really is no "right answer" when it comes to creating.
In a world that's constantly changing, that's becoming more and more cynical and critical, we want to spread this message to the world with our art, to tell the world that we can create our own space, find pride and joy in our most authentic selves.
Ceramic Pieces

Emily is a ceramicist and formerly worked at Handeye Studio in Chinatown as an instructor. She eventually quit working at the studio to grow our own brand.
Our ceramic pieces and collections are created in small batches. That's why you'll find that even in the same designs there are slight differences here and there.
One of our biggest challenges was balancing a sense of polished-ness and a feel of the hand-made. We want our pieces to have a human warmth to them.
The Sticky of Things

Stickers bring us a lot of joy, it reminds us sometimes it's the smaller things in life that could mean the most.
Our stickers are created in small batches in our home studio, every single sheet was handled by us.
